OFFICIAL RULES AND GUIDELINES (v1.02 – 6/12/12)

Listed below are several rules and guidelines established by the commissioners of the NHL 13 “Dynamic Hockey League” GM Connected League. All players involved in our league (CMs, GMs, and OTP teammates) are expected to abide by the following. It is our belief that the ensuing rules will not only foster a fun and competitive atmosphere throughout the league, but will also ensure everyone is treated fairly and with the utmost respect. We all joined this league to have fun with EA’s title; there’s no reason why we should have any difficulty making that happen for everyone.

  • §Title / Platform: EA SPORTS NHL 13; Microsoft Xbox 360
  • §General Managers: http://www.crashthenet.ca/ community forums located here: http://tinyurl.com/ctnforums. Additionally, all GMs must provide some sort of secondary contact (Facebook, Twitter, EA Forums, AIM, Xbox Live, etc.) through which they be contacted if needed. For a list of active GMs, please check out the “General Managers” tab.
  • §Team Selection: A draft lottery was held on June 11, 2012, where current GMs names were pulled from a hat. GMs then selected teams, based on availability, in the resultant order. Please check out the “League Events” tab for more info
  • Courtesy: First and foremost, we simply ask everyone be respectful of one another. We are here to have fun, so win or lose, we expect good sportsmanship from all players. Losing a game does not give users the right to bicker, argue, mock, quit early or abandon the league mid-season. While friendly trash-talking is certainly permitted, vulgar language is to be kept to a minimum and things like racism and bigotry are severely discouraged. We want everyone to feel comfortable and enjoy their NHL GM Connected experience in what we know will be one of the best leagues around.
  • Exploitations: Using “cheese” tactics and in-game exploits are strictly prohibited in the “Dynamic Hockey League”, and their usage is cause for severe punishment. In the event of an exploit goal or repeated exploitation attempts, the concerned GM must obtain video evidence (either with a camera and uploading to YouTube or through the EA Sports World website), and submit the URL in a private message to the League Commissioners via Facebook/CTN forums for review. A full recording of the play, as well as description of the scenario in question, will be required for proper evaluation. Please do not waste our time with this matter; only submit what you perceive to be a legitimate exploit that your opponent could not otherwise explain.

If it is determined an exploit has been utilized (via a commissioner vote), the offending GM will be given a warning and placed on probation. In the event of a second offense in the same season, the GM will be kicked from the league and replaced by a player from the Waiting List.

Please note that the GM is responsible for any OTP players on his or her team, meaning exploits committed by an OTP teammate can result in a GM being removed from the league.

  • Scheduling: TBD
  • Boxscore: TBD
  • Trades/ Waivers / Contracts / Free Agency: TBD
  • Absences: If a user is going to be away for some time, please notify a commissioner regarding the length of your leave.  Based on what we know about GM Connected (as of June 2012), the absent user’s opponent should have the option of playing the CPU AI. Please note that while some absences are expected, this is a 30 human league and users are required to play the majority of their games. Repeated and prolonged absences will result in a commissioner review of the offending GM’s status, with the possibility of the GM being removed from the league.
  • Waiting List: Everyone in this league is replaceable. If a GM is removed for any reason or has to resign from the league because of real life commitments, a new user will be chosen from the Waiting List to replace them. Members on the Waiting List are required to join the http://www.crashthenet.ca/ community if they wish to participate in the “Dynamic Hockey League”.

While we want everyone originally signed up for the league to remain for its duration, we understand that real life comes first. If possible, we encourage all GMs to do their best to complete the current season and resign instead in the next off-season.

Although we do not currently have plans for a second league, if enough users join the Waiting List, then we will consider running a “minor league.” This league will not feature all the bells and whistles of the “Dynamic Hockey League” and may not receive full support / attention of http://www.crashthenet.ca/; however, users can still use the forums to play and remain organized. Please check out the “Waiting List” tab for more information.

  • Online Team Play Rules: When playing an “Dynamic Hockey League” game, each team must have the same amount of players on both sides. By default, this league is a 1v1 versus league; although GMs may arrange OTP contests at their discretion, provided both GMs agree to the OTP terms before-hand. Since the league was developed w/ 1v1 in mind, if either GM prefers to play 1v1, then this is the mode that must be played, whether the opposing GM has OTP teammates available or not.

Please note that General Managers may only play for their own team. Players participating in OTP games may also only play on one team per season. While we do not believe participating GMs or OTP players would “throw” games for other GMs, it is something we would rather not risk in the end.

Below are some examples to help clarify this rule:

Team A would like to play 4v4. Team B would like to play 1v1. The game must be played 1v1, not 4v1, 3v1, or any other uneven combination.

Team A would like to play 5v5. Team B would like to play 3v3. The game can be played 3v3, 2v2, or 1v1, but not 5v3 or 4v3, or any other uneven combination.

  • Trade Rules and Guidelines: With recent experiences regarding an influx in trades, we have decided to put some guidelines in place. These rules aren't meant to take the fun out of the league, nor are we limiting players just because we want to, we are doing it because we feel it would improve the overall expierence of the league.  Below you will find all of the rules that will be put into effect immediately.
      • Because NHL only allows a total of five players to be included in each deal, we have decided to limit the number of players that can be dealt by each team. A GM may only trade away a total of THREE players in every deal. There will also be a fourth spot reserved for a draft pick, in the event of a 3-for-3 player deal. If a deal does not include three players, draft picks may be included at the GM's discretion.
      • All trade submissions must be sent to BenchBoss67 via private message on the forums. If a trade is submitted in any other form of contact, it will be considered void. In addition, the trade proposal must include individual player overalls, as well as salaries for each of the players involved in the trade.
      • Once a trade has been submitted, all four commissioners will review the trade to decide if it will be accepted or denied. If a trade has been accepted, it will be posted in the official trade announcements thread for public viewing. If a trade has been denied, both GM's involved will be contacted via private message by one of the commissioners.
      • Trades must be reasonable to both teams, regardless if both GM's accept the deal. When a trade is reviewed, player overalls and point production will be taken into account. Of course, there is a little bit of flexibility that comes along with this, so we ask our GM's to make these as reasonable as possible. However, we won't be overaly strict when it comes to this, as it will vary from trade to trade.
      • A GM may only trade a total of TWO superstar/franchise players per season. In the event of a superstar/franchise player(s) being dealt,  the player(s) must be traded for equal overall value. Once a team has completed two trades involving two superstar/franchise player(s), both teams may not deal any other superstar/franchise player(s) for the duration of the season.
      • Two franchise players being dealt in the same deal, will count the same as two franchise players being dealt in separate deals.
      • Superstar/franchise players will be determined based on how they stack up on their current team. For example, Ovechkin being Washington's top player, will be considered a franchise player. Another example being Jamie Benn on Dallas, he will be considered a franchise player.
      • The trading market will officially open the first day of the regular season, which will be September 25th, 2012. However, potential trades may be discussed prior to the start of the season, but cannot officially be submitted until September 25th, 2012. Please refer to the rule(s) above on how to properly submit a trade. All trades that have been made are considered void.

** These rules are not set in stone, and are subject to change up until the first day of the regular season.

More League Rules to be released soon.
